The MP1584 is a high-frequency, step-down (buck) switching regulator featuring an integrated high-side, high-voltage power MOSFET. It delivers up to 3A output current and uses current-mode control to ensure fast transient response and simplified loop compensation. The wide input voltage range of 4.5V to 28V supports a broad range of step-down power applications, including automotive environments.
With an ultra-low quiescent current of just 100µA, the MP1584 is well suited for battery-powered and energy-efficient systems. High conversion efficiency is maintained across a wide load range by dynamically reducing the switching frequency under light-load conditions, minimizing switching and gate-drive losses. Frequency foldback protects against inductor current runaway during startup. Thermal shutdown ensures reliable and fault-tolerant operation.
Operating at switching frequencies of up to 1.5MHz, the MP1584 helps mitigate EMI issues, particularly those affecting AM radio and ADSL applications. The device is offered in a thermally enhanced SOIC-8E package for improved heat dissipation.
