Q: Can I use this non-isolated board across long distances with different ground levels?

A: No. Because this module is non-isolated, both the Raspberry Pi and all connected RS485 slave devices must share a common ground potential. Connecting devices with large ground voltage differences can destroy the board and the Raspberry Pi.
